Bernard is a litigator who focuses his practice on construction, commercial litigation, and professional liability matters. He also has experience in municipal law and employment law.

Prior to joining the firm Bernard was an associate in the litigation department of a national firm where he gained experience working on large construction and surety matters, complicated commercial litigation matters, and appeals in both Federal and state courts. Bernard also served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel to the City of Boston, where he gained considerable trial experience, including serving as lead counsel in a multi-party, million-dollar construction/design lawsuit and serving as co-counsel in a Federal Court jury trial and obtaining a defense verdict reported as one of Mass Lawyers Weekly’s “Biggest Defense Wins of the Past Year” for 2006. During his time as an Assistant Corporation Counsel, Bernard managed more than 50 active cases in Federal Court, Superior Court and the MCAD. Prior to working for the City of Boston Bernard clerked for one year with the Justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court, working extensively with them during trials, hearings, and motion sessions.

In 2008 and 2009 Bernard was named to the Rising Stars list in the area of Construction/Surety Litigation by New England Super Lawyers & Rising Stars magazine. In 2006 Bernard was a panelist for “The Massachusetts Tort Claims Act: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know But Were Afraid to Ask,” an in-house training session for the City of Boston. He is also an active member of the Boston Inn of Court.
